This ancient monument is a typical Buddhist monastery. You
can see rock cut caves - about 10 in two levels of the hill, and there are also
excavated remains of chaityas and stupas on the top of the hill. The rock cut
caves are simple cubicles in stone devoid of any designs and decorations; neither
have any images of gods and goddesses .A large cistern is also found nearby the
caves. I could not locate any inscriptions.
Kapavaram is located about 20 km from Rajahmundry.( 10 kms
from Rajahmundry airport) (Coordinates: 17°10'2"N 81°48'46"E)
